Выпуск в обращение денежных знаков во всех формах и ценных бумаг. Эмиссия ценных бумаг может быть частной (выпуск акций и облигаций акционерными компаниями) и государственной (выпуск облигаций государственных займов).

Выпуск в обращение наличных денег, ценных бумаг, платежных карт и др. подобных экономических объектов. Что касается денег, то монопольное право эмиссии имеет Центральный банк, действующий через свои расчетно-кассовые центры (РКЦ). В резервных фондах РКЦ всегда хранится запас наличности, предназначенной для выпуска в обращение в случае увеличения потребности хозяйства данного региона в наличных деньгах. Одновременно банк собирает деньги. Если выпуск денег превышает прием денег, это и будет эмиссией. Ценные бумаги (акции, облигации, деривативы и др.) при определенных законодательных ограничениях и условиях вправе эмитировать каждый хозяйствующий субъект. Первая эмиссия ценной бумаги, например, акций акционерного общества, называется IPO (initial public offer) — первичное размещение. См. также Безналичные расчеты.
